An engineering firm that does the testing — not the other way around.
MSET was built on a single operating principle: the quality of your geotechnical work determines the integrity of everything built above it. We’re a Licensed Professional Engineering firm — not a testing contractor who also employs engineers.
That distinction matters on every project we touch. Every field program, every test report, and every recommendation we issue is conceived and reviewed by a Licensed Professional Engineer. When a public agency, developer, or general contractor needs to know what’s underground — and can’t afford to be wrong — they call MSET.
Our AASHTO-accredited South Elgin laboratory and our MSET North office in Genoa City position us to respond quickly across our full service region, with live fleet tracking and experienced project-level technician teams.
MSET was established to provide professionally engineered geotechnical and construction materials testing services to public agencies and private clients throughout the greater Chicago region.
Achieved AASHTO accreditation for the soils and aggregate laboratory, and received IDOT District 1 approval for bituminous and aggregate materials testing — a prerequisite for most state and municipal work in Illinois.
Moved to a purpose-built laboratory and office facility at 410 Nolen Drive, significantly expanding testing capacity, sample storage, and operational efficiency.
Opened a second office in Genoa City, WI, extending field response capabilities into southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois for faster mobilization on multi-state projects.
